Volunteer Opportunities

Adult Volunteering:

The Board of Trustees of the Trumbull Library System recognizes the need and value of volunteers as an available resource to further its goals in providing quality library service.

The Board believes that this collaborative effort can be beneficial to both the library and the individual volunteer. Benefits include fostering greater public interest in the library, encouraging personal growth for the volunteer, and enhancing, expanding, and upgrading library service.

Volunteers generally provide support services to paid staff; work on special projects.  Volunteers are expected to act in accordance with library policies and to reflect positive customer service attitudes to all library patrons.

At the present time the Library is accepting volunteers to help with our in-library book sales, delivering materials to homebound residents and the “Adopt a Shelf” program.  Please direct inquires for volunteer opportunities to Circulation Supervisor, Megan Norrell at 203-452-5129 or by email at mnorrell@trumbull-ct.gov

Youth Volunteering

The Library volunteer program is open to middle and high school students who have a desire to volunteer their time and considerable energy to helping out the Trumbull Library System.  There are two separate groups which you may join: The Friends of the Library need help on a monthly basis with book sales, usually the first weekend. Setup starts on Friday around 4 and cleanup starts on Saturday at 3:30.  If you are performing a limited number of service hours for school, church, or another organization this is the group to join.  Your contact info will be forwarded to a representative from the Friends group who will notify you of each upcoming book sale.and when help is needed.  If you are interested in helping out  at the library, assisting during summer reading in the children’s department, and other special projects then check off the Teen Advisory Group.  We usually meet once a month for an hour, but special projects come up periodically for which we need your help. I will e-mail members of this group when help is needed for any project.  You may also volunteer for both groups if you would like.  Questions? Email Chelsie Labrecque
